Witkap Triple
Witkap Triple is a delightful 7.5% ABV version of an abbey triple from Brouwerij Slaghmuylder. It's the perfect "Big Brother" to Witkap Singel. It has much of Singel's "Lemon Chiffon" character but with more body and mouth feel and a wonderfully complex aroma. Hints of Banana a clove mix with the classic, lightly tart Witkap character. Close your eyes and you may think you're drinking a banana parfait! And because it is lighter than other Triples (Westmalle weighs in at 9% for ex.) it's a full drinking experience without being daunting.

As many of you know, Slaghmuylder is the only lay brewery in Belgium to have the right to call their Witkap "Trappiste ale". They were given this honor because the Brewmaster who created the recipes for Witkap had been brewer at 4 of Belgium's 5 monastery breweries. In recognition of his contribution to their breweries, they allowed Witkap to carry the designation "Trappiste" through his lifetime. Witkap now must call itself "abbey style" (like all other "Trappiste style" ales brewed in lay breweries) but has been able to keep a Monk on the label in testimony to its lineage and the special place it holds in Belgian Brewing history.
